Research notes

For duk-duk ceremony. Roger Neich, Auckland Museum, identified this tapa cloth as coming from Nakanai language group [October 1996].

The tapa cloth's red colouring suggests the material is the beaten inner bark of a rainforest fig tree [G. Baines, 07/04/2013].
