Description

Pair of incised baby coconuts.
Oval shaped, tapered outwards tips, carved patterns painted white. Strung together by cord.

Research notes

Marupai. Originally registered as a fishing charm, but marupai have uses other than fishing.

The Foundation Donation comprises the items from L. P. Winterbotham's personal collection, which were donated to the University of Queensland in 1948 and form the basis of the Anthropology Museum.
