Description

A medium sized shield of dark hard-wood. The shield presents a lateral profile that is much thicker that its anterior profile, wedge like in appearance where the sharp central vertical edge has been removed, leaving a flat narrow plain. This combines with the four angular sides of the shield creating pentagonal (5) shaped terminal ends. One lateral surface has been engraved with a repartition of connected rectangles with the internal area “thatched”, the engraving precise and fine. The other side has been engraved with heavy water current swirls. Both patterns reduce in intensity that may be an element of the engraving or may be an unfinished aspect.
