This binding has 3 elements – thick plaited binding followed by 2 layers of hair, followed by more plaited fibres. The lower end of the handle is carved to a point, then extends to a notch above which is a section of plaited plant fibre binding. There is a carved, notched stone club head which has a hole in the centre. There is another section of plaited plant fibre binding at the top.
The Foundation Donation comprises the items from L. P. Winterbotham's personal collection, which were donated to the University of Queensland in 1948 and form the basis of the Anthropology Museum.
