Description

Research notes

Although this bark cloth was collected from the Lutheran Mission in Finschhafen, Morobe Province the designs on the cloth are believed to be Ömie. Roger Neich, Auckland Museum (1996), and Brennan King, Manager of Ömie Artists (2013) have identified the tapa cloth as originating from the Ömie people of Huvaemo (Mount Lamington) in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea.
