Description

Item 40099 consists of two spheres joined together at their sides and also by a curved handle at the top. Overall it is 210mm long and 165mm high. At either end of the spheres there are spout openings, one which does not protrude. Over the surface there are dot and line decorations in the pottery, and the glossy appearance is from a vegetable gum smeared on the outside to waterproof the container.

Research notes

Professor McElwain states pottery items 40097, 40098 and 40099 were bought in Fiji, as children's drinking vessels.
