"Sample of Floater Tie 6. Sequence of seven photographs (34189 to 34195). Native name: Rope, Kupuy. Function: used in the assembly of a dugout canoe (24281) tangu; outrigger floater, tjipi. Craftsman: James Butcher. Raw Material: rope is made from the bark of the Kupuy tree, Hibiscus tiliaceus. History: Photographs taken by Rev. Thompson to send with the rope for the canoe built for the Museum (completed January 1976). Information above from Rev. Thompson" [catalogue card note].
