Description

A sepia toned photograph of 14 men on Bondi Beach in a semi-circular formation, including 3 men in the centre holding throwing sticks; the ocean can be seen in the background. The mens' faces, torsos and legs are painted and some wear head and nose ornaments. Kerry studio number 3192 in reverse in top right corner; black border.

Research notes

A photograph of 14 men performing on Bondi Beach in December 1892. The men form part of the 27 member troupe of Archibald Meston's "Wild Australia" show, which traveled to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne 1892-1893.
