Black and white photograph of a carved stone figure entangled in thick tree roots, set on white board.
"Iniet figure. Gazella Peninsula (Tatavane). Small carving made from very hard sandstone. It has only recently come to light - disclosed by the fall of a bank of earth. It is fixed firmly in the roots of an old tree. It is considered an old image for making poison - that is killing of enemies. Also that a traveler could buy good luck from its owner and a safe journey. An offer of £10 was refused for it. B.M. Size of statue shown by comparison to a shilling piece on left" [catalogue card note].
Part of group of photos showing Iniet numbered 31829 to 31834.
