Black and white photograph of a cave wall adorned with rock art including hand stencils and cross-hatch figures.
One of a series of 4 photos [31377 to 31380] of the 'Black's Palace' complex, central Queensland.
These caves are known as the 'Black's Palace' - 80 miles SE of Blackall on W Langton's property, behind Petora and Thurungi. they are on an open cliff in a ravine in the mountains. The face is honeycombed with these caves, also used as burial caves. Those used as burial caves run in about 15 to 20 feet - all bones have been removed from the known caves. A stockman on the Langton property has recently found untouched caves.' 'These photographs are probably recorded by National Geographic Society and in the Mitchell Library [catalogue card note].
Other views of the Black's Palace complex in 31385 to 31392.
