Description

A large broad shield of light coloured light-wood. The entire surface of both the face and the back has been engraved with parallel straight lines. On the back, all channels are orientated along the vertical axis. On the face the lines have been organized to create a large X. The terminal tips have been partitioned by the channels overlapping and creating a “line”. The channeling continues to the ends but with a different orientation. There is some red paint on the back. The margins on the back curl in somewhat creating a “lip”.

Research notes

Items 3001 to 3324 were the Anthropological Society of Queensland Collection which was donated at the foundation of the Anthropology Museum in 1949.
