Description

Irregularly shaped anvil with 12 ground out circular depressions on surface.

[Archaeology collection catalogue card] 13 indentations on each surface.

Research notes

These circular depressions were used to crack nuts in.

From the UQ Anthropology Museum exhibition 'written on the body' curated by Judy Watson and Diana Young, March - August 2014.

Items 3001 to 3324 were the Anthropological Society of Queensland Collection which was donated at the foundation of the Anthropology Museum in 1949.
