Description

Wide mouthed bamboo trap. Conical-like shape. The smaller end has been woven over around the circumference, this is the end that fish are removed from the trap. Dec 1998, Susan Tuckwell (SE Asian valuer) noted: Wide mouthed trap.
Open basket with no base – side poles are secured with rattan. There is a woven rattan handle at base. Has a label that reads “SEA 3”.

Research notes

Note on back of photo reads: When fishing in paddy fields the sum is forced into the mud, trapping any fish, which are removed through the hole in the top and strung on a fung or put in a takra [see object history file].
