Description

A medium sized broad shield of light coloured hard-wood. The entire surface of the face has been engraved with parallel and straight channels arranged in a “chequered-field” pattern. There is evidence of red paint. The back is undecorated. The handle is orientated horizontally, the only one in the collection thus orientated. There are many spots of light colour on the back, possibly from mould.
