Carved wooden spearthrower, overall 800mm long and 80mm wide. The proximal end terminates in a rough sphere to be held by the hand, and at the distal end there is affixed a wooden barb for receiving the end of the spear. The spearthrower increases in width from the knobbed proximal end, and then decreases in width towards the distal barb. The almost flat inner surface is completely incised with a series of diagonal patterns, with only one series perpendicular to its length, near the handle end. The reverse side shows evidence of manufacture using stone tools.
Exhibited in museum display no 1.
