Description

Dec 1998, Susan Tuckwell (SE Asian valuer) noted: local cloth, red with white stripes, and coloured cotton fringes. Predominantly red square poncho with cream and yellow stripes and yellow, green and red cotton fringing on four seam lines.

Research notes

Catalogue Book 2: a cermonial headman's jacket (Red Karens). Given to R M [Mason] by Saw Darlington, a Christian Karen in 1945. His father had it before him. This is probably local woven and coloured scarlet.
