Description

A long narrow shield of dark hard-wood. The entire surface of the face has been engraved with straight parallel channels orientated along the vertical axis. These channels bend, creating a small panel in the middle where they are orientated diagonal to the vertical axis. Some of the channels, approximately six, appear to have been painted black. The entire surface of the back of the shield has been engraved with straight parallel channels orientated along the vertical axis. The handle area has the same pattern but three horizontal lines above and below the handle have defined it. There is a hole, approximately the size of a five cent coin, at one end of the shield. There are worn areas at the other end.
