Description

Research notes

Used by the Suki people to carry babies. It has a very strong strap which the women put over their forehead and the baby lies across their back whether they are walking about or working in the field or paddling a canoe. This bag is coloured with three different colours of ochre. The local ochre found in the district is either from stone which is pounded up, or from dyes from trees.
