Research notes

YIDAKI (didjeridu) decorated by Mondjinu of the Daygurgun clan. Notes by Milingimbi Art & Craft: The long blowing tube is made from the single branch of a eucalypt tree hollowed out by termites. It is usually decorated with natural ochres and a mouthpiece of gum resin or native beeswax is added to make the liprest more soft and comfortable. Part of a series of 31 items (24549 to 24579) relating to the WAGILAG SISTERS SONG CYCLE [story detailed at 24554]. Items 24520 through 24548 also bought from display. Another item related to the Wagilag Sisters' song cycle is found at 1838. Exhibited in conjunction with Dept of Home Affairs and Environment at Knoxville, Tennesee, International Energy World Expo, 1982.
