Research notes

DHAMALIN (blue tongue lizard) by Dhatanu. Notes by Milingimbi Art & Craft: This dreaming is sung by Galwanuk clan, Dhuwa moiety. The artist, Dhatunjn, calls these dreamings Madayin - his own. He is the Bunjguwa (boss) for this. This particular painting depicts Dhamiliny, the blue tongue lizard (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia). When the two sisters were dancing to stop the rain and Yulunjgul the Great Python all the snakes and lizards of the land gathered around them for they had heard the call of their father. It was night and the women did not see them. Part of a series of 31 items (24549 to 24579) relating to the WAGILAG SISTERS SONG CYCLE [story detailed at 24554]. Items 24520 through 24548 were also bought from display.
