Description

A long flat shield that is heavily ochred with a piece of wood-knot missing. No engraving on the face. There is a 60cm long split from one of the terminal ends of the shield, mostly in the centre of the shield’s body. There has been ochre lost along the margins of the split. The back has intricate engraving. Uncoordinated, shallow channeling on one end. Superimposed with drill holes arranged in “S” lines. There are nine “S” lines horizontal to the vertical axis. At the other end of the shield, there is coordinated parallel channeling confined within areas defined by drill holes in a rectangular S pattern, (block zig-zag). There are five of these lines, four of which mirror each other in arrangement.
