Description

Black velvet hat with metal half-sphere shaped beads on top. Sides are adorned with brightly coloured patchwork. There is coloured acrylic/wool and padded cotton triangle at top. There are silver coloured beads at the top and front of hat. There is a bright pink chin band.

Research notes

Child's hat. Items 23908 to 24133 and 24322 to 24331 were the private collection of Mrs Martin who went to the Province with the American Baptist Mission to set up an international marketing organisation for the tribal arts, mainly textile. Almost all items were exhibited in Museum Display No. 15, 1980. Other Thai Hill tribes items purchased from Mrs Martin can be found at 24425 to 24438.
